Luke 15:20

Luke 15:20

So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.

Hugs say so many things. They can say goodbye as well as hello. They can be the start or finish in the process of healing. They are given as an expression of joy as well as grief. Hugs speak more than words can say.

2 Kings 10:16

2 Kings 10:16

He said, "Come with me and see my zeal for the LORD." So he made him ride in his chariot.

After Thought

To ride in one's chariot meant that you were in agreement with them. It was the alignment of one person to another. That is why he asked him this preceding question in verse 15 "Is your heart right, as my heart is with your heart"?

1 Samuel 22:23

Stay here with me, and don't be afraid. I will protect you with my own life, for the same person wants to kill us both.

After Thought

Evil seeks to divide and then conquer through isolation. But as William Shatner once wrote, "I've been in that angst of loneliness, where you're really alone in the universe, except for the dog."

Through our pets God constantly shows us the meaning of faithfulness.

So show your love for the alien, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt.

After Thought

Jesus taught the Golden Rule that reminds us to treat others in the same way we would want to be treated (Matt. 7:12). That theme was depicted in a very popular movie that is humorously depicted in today's picture. Do you remember it?

Luke 11:34

The eye is the lamp of your body; when your eye is clear, your whole body also is full of light; but when it is bad, your body also is full of darkness.

After Thought

What do these eyes seem to be saying to you?

Where words are restrained, the eyes often talk a great deal.

Matthew 10:42

And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.

After Thought

A truly generous person gives without the thought of getting anything in return. The open hands for giving are moved to respond because of an open heart.

1 John 4:7

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

To the loved, a word of affection is a morsel; but to the love-starved, a word of affection can be a feast.

1 Samuel 18:1

1 Samuel 18:1

Now it came about when he had finished speaking to Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as himself.

After Thought

The word rendered knit literally means knotted, tied together firmly by indissoluble bonds.
