Patience

Psalm 37:7

Psalm 37:7

Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who carries out wicked schemes.

After Thought

We can rest peacefully knowing the Lord is our protection and vindication.

1 Corinthians 8:9

1 Corinthians 8:9

Be careful, however, that the exercise of your rights does not become a stumbling block to the weak.

After Thought

Our goal as Christians is to do nothing that would hinder others from coming to know Christ. We should live in such a way that our life creates an appetite in others to partake of the truth we know. Our presence should leave a sweetness and not a bitterness.

Job 29:23

Job 29:23

They waited for me as for the rain, and opened their mouth as for the spring rain.

After Thought

Job brought words of healing and comfort to people and they waited to hear what he had to say. They were as expectant as this dog and cat are awaiting their provider.

Psalm 27:14

Psalm 27:14

Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.

After Thought

Our pets wait expectantly for us to provide for them. They trust in our faithfulness and hope in our good nature. In like fashion we must have courage to wait on the Lord to provide for us.

Psalm 5:3

Psalm 5:3

In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.

After Thought

I love the way our pets teach us how to wait expectantly. Whether they are at a window awaiting our return, or looking for the slightest indication that we are about to give them attention, they are vigilant. It is a great illustration of expectant faith.

Isaiah 49:20

Isaiah 49:20

The children born during your bereavement will yet say in your hearing, 'This place is too small for us; give us more space to live in.

After Thought

Having less space was a sign of fruitfulness and blessing. This was a promise of converts who would come to be a comfort. There are times when the church is desolate and few in number; yet its desolations shall not last for ever, and God will repair them.

Acts 4:32

Acts 4:32

All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.

After Thought

God has given us two hands - one to receive with and the other to give with. We are not cisterns made for hoarding; we are channels made for sharing.
