Addiction

Isaiah 1:18

Isaiah 1:18

Come now, let us settle the matter, says the LORD. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

After Thought

God has provided a cleansing for the stains of sin. Though our sins are as bright as scarlet, God's forgiveness removes the stain and the raiment of our life is holy. That is why Christ came.

1 Corinthians 6:12

1 Corinthians 6:12

All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.

After Thought

Paul wrote that, "by what a man is overcome, by this he is enslaved." (2 Peter 2:19) Self control is a quality that God can cause to grow into your life. Ask Him to help you develop this quality so that nothing owns you.

Ecclesiastes 6:7

Ecclesiastes 6:7

Everyone's toil is for their mouth, yet their appetite is never satisfied.

After Thought

Are we in control of our appetites or are our appetites in control of us? This is one of the many challenges in life and one of the reasons self control is such a virtue. The Scriptures teach that "by what a man is overcome, to that he is enslaved." (2 Peter 2:19) Slavery is never good and why we need help from God to overcome the things that overcome us.
