Angry

Psalm 141:3

Psalm 141:3

Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips.

After Thought

The Bible says that "out of that which fills the heart the mouth speaks" (Luke 6:45). This explains why David wanted God to help control his speech so that in anger no vain or inappropriate word would come out during his prayer time that would defile it.

James 3:10

James 3:10

Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.

After Thought

A blessing is a circle of light drawn around a person to protect, heal and strengthen. That would imply that cursing is a circle of darkness drawn around a person to defeat, sicken, and weaken.

Psalm 97:11

Light shines on the righteous and joy on the upright in heart.

After Thought

I am determined to be cheerful and happy in whatever situation I may find myself. For I have learned that the greater part of our misery or unhappiness is determined not by our circumstance but by our disposition.

Psalm 37:8

Cease from anger and forsake wrath; Do not fret; it leads only to evildoing.

After Thought

Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured.

Matthew 5:44

Matthew 5:44

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

After Thought

We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.

Colossians 3:12-13

Colossians 3:12-13

12 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

After Thought

He that cannot forgive others breaks the bridge over which he must pass himself; for every man has need to be forgiven.

Job 6:30

Job 6:30

Is there any injustice on my tongue? Cannot my palate discern the cause of calamity?

After Thought

When Job's friends were trying to discover the reason for his calamities Job responded by reminding them that he had a good sense of right and wrong. With that said, none of what was happening could be easily discerned. He had great faith because he continued to trust when things did not seem fair.
