Thankfulness

Isaiah 12:4

Isaiah 12:4

And in that day you will say, "Give thanks to the LORD, call on His name. Make known His deeds among the peoples; Make them remember that His name is exalted."

After Thought

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.

Luke 10:8

Luke 10:8

Whatever city you enter and they receive you, eat what is set before you.

After Thought

The disciples were to be grateful for whatever was provided. All too often things can become more about the food than the fellowship. Don't allow a wonderful holiday like Thanksgiving to become more about gratification than gratitude.

Genesis 4:6

Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen?"

After Thought

I never realized how much being upset or angry showed up on my countenance until after a long commute my son greeted me at the door and immediately asked, "Why is your forehead mad?"

2 Samuel 12:3

The poor man owned nothing but one little lamb he had bought. He raised that little lamb, and it grew up with his children. It ate from the man's own plate and drank from his cup. He cuddled it in his arms like a baby daughter.

Isn't it great to read that thousands of years ago pets were thought of as members of the family? Though this is a parable told by a prophet, it reveals the fact that one could love a pet so dearly.

1 Corinthians 3:19

1 Corinthians 3:19

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. As the Scriptures say, "He traps the wise in the snare of their own cleverness."

After Thought

All too often we are our own worst enemy. God's laws were not designed to rob us of happiness, but to protect us from the truly painful things in life. Unfortunately, like this cat, we have all gotten ourselves into situations where simple obedience to God's wisdom would have prevented. The good news is that God ...
